Professor KIM Yeong-soo of Yeungnam University’s Department of Political Science and Public Administration has donated KRW 10 million to the university.
On January 15, Professor KIM met with YU President CHOI Oe-chool and expressed his wish to contribute to the university's development by donating KRW 10 million. The funds will be used to support the university and its students.
During the donation ceremony, Professor KIM remarked, “I hope this contribution helps YU thrive and provides our students with a better environment for academic pursuits. I look forward to continuing to support the university whenever opportunities arise.”
President CHOI expressed his gratitude, stating, “Professor KIM has been an invaluable asset to our university through his academic achievements and administrative contributions. His dedication alone has been a tremendous asset to the university, and we are sincerely grateful for his additional contribution through this donation.” He continued, “We will do our utmost to ensure that today’s generous act, reflecting Professor KIM’s commitment to university advancement and nurturing talent, serves as a foundation for cultivating individuals who contribute to the betterment of humanity.”
Professor KIM has received several accolades, including the 2006 Korean Political Science Association’s Academic Award, a Presidential Commendation in 2012, the Order of Service Merit, and the 2023 Outstanding Research Award. He has served in prominent roles within the university, such as Director of the Publishing Office and Dean of the College of Political Science and Public Administration. Currently, he is the Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Director of the Institute for Unification Studies, where he continues to play a key role in advancing the university.
